The 13th Annual Treefort Music Festival in Boise, Idaho, once again delivered an unforgettable experience, uniting over 420 bands and thousands of attendees in a celebration of music and community. This year, VOLUX Lighting played a starring role in transforming Julia Davis Park into a dazzling visual spectacle, showcasing the capabilities of the PHANTRA, FLARIS 1XK, and FLARIS Blade.

Electrifying the Stage
The VOLUX PHANTRA 7x60W IP65 LED WashBeam Moving Head took stage, bathing performers in vibrant colors and captivating audiences with its dynamic effects. From Sofi Tukker’s energetic sets to Bright Eyes’ soulful performances, the PHANTRA’s precise beam control and stunning output created a captivating visual experience that amplified the emotions of every song.
But the PHANTRA wasn’t alone in illuminating Treefort’s landscape. Enhancing the visual experience was the FLARIS 1XK, a high-powered, IP65-rated motorized strobe/wash light. Lighting designers utilized its four ultra-bright white light strobe tubes alongside three RGB+WW pixel plate segments to deliver incredibly rich effects and vibrant color mixing. The strobe elements, with up to 96 total mappable zones, and the pixel plate segments, mappable into 24 zones, provided energetic, creative pixel effects that captivated the audience. It’s dedicated 3,000K warm white LED color offered expanded blinder functionality that combined with the RGB colors to deliver a near-pure white output, matching the strobe elements for ultra-intense output. Its motorized tilt offered 180 degrees of range and controlled via DMX, Art-Net, and sACN, for ease of programming.
Adding an element of modern, linear effects to the show was the FLARIS BLADE. The FLARIS BLADE, with its razor-thin profile and dazzling output, delivered effects previously unachievable in a single unit. Its tight 5mm pixel pitch, with its 224 outer 2W RGBW outer pixel segments mappable into 16 zones, offered a wide variety of creative looks to lighting designers, while its strobe element of 112 x 5W 6,500k White LEDS, delivered the brightness and power to captivate and energize. The effects were only furthered through its slide-in milky diffusion filter, delivering the ability to create seamless and fluid visuals with no visible pixelation.
CJ Hall of Valiant Productions shared his thoughts on FLARIS performance:
“I was amazed at how bright the FLARIS was. I used them as foot light/crowd light and was very impressed with how much coverage I got with them as well as how good the color looked. We got rained on, and their IP rating was put to the test as well. Then I saw the price and my jaw dropped. I don’t know of any other fixtures of this quality in that price range.” – CJ Hall, Valiant Productions
